My fear about poker came true. Kinda sucked. My fear, of course, is that the more I play, the more I care about EV, the more of an jerk I become at the tables.

And on this forum.

So I walked away for a while, played online somewhat, but very rarely in a casino, until two weeks ago, when I went to Vegas, and again this weekend when I went to there.

My first stop this weekend was at the $60 buyin NL tourny at the Orleans...5th hand of the tourny, I had KK in the SB

400 chips to start apiece, blinds 10 15. UTG raises to 75, button reraised to 200, and I mucked. I won't go into details as to everything that made me fold, but no "I had to pee" logic entered the equation.

UTG called, and check/folded the flop when the button pushed.

I jumped up from the table, and went to a couple of buddies of mine to brag about my laydown....see, after UTG mucked, I said to the guy on the button (sitting next to me) "Show your aces", and he obliged.

Of course, they asked what the flop was, and I told the truth in both cases....KJJ. I'd say "but an ace was coming" or some such silliness, but I didn't care.

See, this was the second time since the 2001 WSOP when I had KK vs AA in a NL tourny (the first time, AA had ridiculously few chips, so I had no way to muck preflop). And ever since my KK lost to AA at the WSOP, I realized that i had to learn how to muck that hand.

And I finally learned.

Oh, I got slaughtered throughout the weekend...but I didn't care.

And I lost in that tourny when my TT ran into 97o (some people REALLY like their 9-high preflop /forums/images/icons/smile.gif ). But seriously, I didn't care...I was on cloud 9.

And as I got mocked throughout the weekend for my laydown (results oriented thinking sucks /forums/images/icons/smile.gif), I didn't care. Because I think I'm learning to care less and less about EV, and more and more about LV (Life Value)....money be damned.
