So I am in the process of buying a queen sized bed for about a grand and now need to get bed sheets. I am thinking of getting one set that is way top of the line, 1000+ thread count. Anyone have any experience with nice sheets, are they worth it or are they a rip off.

I believe they are worth it. High thread count sateen.

You must be some sort of bed expert huh, I posted my buying a bed thread about a week ago and you were one of the first posters in that too. Thanks.

If you could tell the ladies that you were the head mod on 2+2 you too would be an expert on beds and bedding.

I'm not an expert, but I have 300+ thread count Egyptian cotton sheets from Ralph Lauren. They are very nice. It's hard to explain why, but they just feel much nicer than other sheets I have had before. Cooler against the skin...

I just find beds very interesting. Most people spend a good deal of time there. And I do believe all people would benefit more than they realize from a good bed and sheets.

I also find tires very interesting. I know virtually nothing about them, however.

I buy all my sheets online Here (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?TID=D:20050822:MOD1&IID=MOD1&SEC_IID=10596& PAGE=CATLIST&pro_sub_cat=240&pro_ssub_cat=1)

Great quality and quick delivery, even with the $1 delivery special on now my stuff arrives in 3 or 4 days.

300 is definintley better than 180 or whatever the cheap kind is - not sure if going from 300 to 1000 is would be worth it - never had 1000 count.

Don't get tricked by a high thread count that's 50% polyester. Go with the good material.

I have 350 Egyptian cotton and love them.

I like jersey knit.

you guys must be rich. I can never justify spending that much on sheets even if I would love them. I can't even imagine how much 1000+ thread count would cost but I know it would be ridiculous. Still it would be fun to daydream about it for a minute.

What is jersey knit? What do you like about it?

I recently had a decent tournament showing, and the only thing I bought for my house was an extremely overpriced mattress set, and expensive sheets.

Changes everything. If I could only have one luxury item the rest of my life, without a doubt thats what it would be.

(I also bought a matching dish set, that has left me strangely unfulfilled)

It's the sheets that feel like a t-shirt. They're very comfortable, but they're stretchy and they end up getting all fubar. They also don't slide very well and get caught on the edge of the bed and just stretch instead of pulling over.

FWIW, I just got a queen-size bed for my apartment, and found a kick-ass set of 400-count sheets (fitted, flat, two pillowcases) for approx. $40.

At Sam's Club. Never. Saw it. Coming.

For what it's worth, I was trying to come up with Christmas gifts to ask for and I couldn't think of anything. Then I just went, f' it and asked for a set of nice sheets. I got those and when I opened the present I was like...goddamn, I asked for THIS and was disappointed. Then I actually slept in them and was VERY happy I did get them.

High quality sheets are an indulgence well worth the price.

My taste, however, may be insufficiently refined, since I am unable to tell the difference between 600 count and 800 count. Possibly it is that the 600's are long staple Egyptian cotton. I cannot imagine an increase in quality of feel from 600/800 count to 1000 count that would be proportionate to the increase in price.

I just bought the 1000 thread count egyptian cotton/sateen set from overstock for $150. As gay as this sounds, I am physched to try them out.

I find it hard to believe that a bunch of poker players who strive for comfort in their chairs/monitors/input devices can't understand spending money on something like a mattress & sheets that you spend even more time on (usually).

Mattress, Sheets, Shoes, Computer chair are things that it's hard for me to put a price on.
