I very frequently change both my monitor resolutions from 1600x1200 to 1024x768 and vice versa, depending on whether I'm playing poker or not. I've reached a new level of laziness and I've grown tired of going: right click->properties->settings->move slider bar->apply->ok

Is there any quicker way to change the resolution? Like say, via hotkeys?

i too make exactly these same changes, depending on what im doing, just like you.

also, i have 4 monitors to do this with, and find the process quite tedious.

not sure that even if owl's suggested program worked well with one monitor that it would work using 4, especially in light of the fact that you have to "align" the 4 monitors after changing the resolution.

anyone have any ideas?

Most video cards have some sort of utility which you can download from the manufacturer, which will allow you to change resolutions. I have an ATI Radeon - the utility sits in the systray, and with a single click I can change resolutions. Not sure how well it would work with multiple monitors, since I don't have multiple outputs. YMMV...

Sorry can you explain what the systray is and how you program which resolution chioces the single click maps to?

thanks for the reply.

i have 2 radeons and the systray thingy. and it can be done with one click, (well, almost) from there, but it only does it for the #1 monitor of the 4.
(just tried it now.)

think i may be out of luck for the easy mutiple monitor resolution change.

There's an app called QuickRes that sits in your system tray. http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_quickres.htm

When i right click on my desktop, I can then click
Display Modes->True Color ->1600 by 1200. Not sure if everyone has that option.
