The scuttlebutt, from some well-placed moles at the UN in NYC, is that the French are pushing hard for the UN to form a coalition of the spineless. The French vision is to have UN peacekeepers brought into Iraq and use sarcasm to keep the peace. (Apologies to Monty Python and the Dinsdale brothers) In worst case scenarios, the French would like UN peacekeepers to have an ample supply of croissants to throw at advancing para-militia forces to keep them at bay. I am certain this idea will be well received among the spineless countries near and dear to the Susan Sarandon - Cyrus - Chris Alger crowd.
