View Full Version : Pain in my side. Am I having a heart attack ?

08-23-2005, 12:17 PM
Today is tuesday. On Sunday, I had a large pepperoni pizza from Pizza hut. I was ok. Monday, I had a medium pepperoni from Dominos. Today I have a sharp pain in my left side that isn't going away. Is this the beginning of the end ?

I don't know, but please continue posting descriptions of what's happening as long as you can still move your hands.

I've heard that people who have strokes and heart attacks often go about a week after suffering it and then finally go get it checked and find out then.

When you can't type anymore, make sure you have one of the paramedics fill us in on what's going down.

Hmmm, actually...I think I just had a heart attack as well...

I just went outside and realized that...ummm...I didn't turn off my bbq last night.

I can't believe the tank lasted all night (or didn't explode).

Damn...I live on the edge huh?

I already ate both pizzas. That's part of the problem I think. The pain is on my lower left side right below my ribs. I keep trying to breathe hoping that it will go away. The pain started after I ate the last two slices of pizza.

I think you need to give your body Tuesday's pizza now before it kills you for gypping it yesterday! Make sure it is a large.

Eat pepperoni pizza on a daily basis and you will in about a year. However, you'll feel the first pain shoot up your left arm.

Clearly you misheard the old saying as a pepperoni pizza a day...

If I were you I would drink a very strong cup of coffee, do a shot of vodka or something, then have someone drive you to the doctor.

Pizza Hut is gross it's like 100% fake food.

Well, there is also something to be said for not eating a large pizza by yourself.

Then again, I can barely eat 3 slices so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but yeah there are some really great salads out there.

Hey PLOlover,

Why does your title include a reference to Novator KS-172 AAM-L (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novator_KS-172_AAM-L) ?

Just curious.

i had this a few days ago. it was a sharp pain every few minutes for a few days. I went to the ER and they told me it was a virus that attacks the tissue around your heart. I forgot the exact name of it. It will go away without treatment in a week but it might get more painful first.

I like this thread. The title makes me think of Otis Redding's song, "Pain In My Heart."

I think it's gas

drewjustdrew

Constipation and gas build up. Salad, or roughage in general, is the best advice so far. Metamucil works too and doesn't taste horrible, doesn't taste good either though.

If it had been the right side, I might guess appendicitis. That is where my pain was when I had it.

I've gotten pretty strong abdominal pains from pizza before. I think it could be because pizza is a LOT of very dense food to stuff your colon with at once. There's the cheese of course, not to mention pepperoni, but I really think it's all that crust.

That's basically pretty dry, dense stuff, if you look at the water content. Already hard to digest, in the colon I bet it absorbs a whole lot of liquid and swells up, making for large stools that really hurt working their way through your system.

At least, that's what I've noticed and felt. I always got bloated and felt like I was carrying around sharp-edged bricks in my guts after eating at a local pizza place.

it's called viral pericarditis, it's actually pretty common

the OP most likely has an ulcer, this might seem gross, but have you had any blood in your stool or dark tarry stools? when was your last doctor's appointment, did they do a rectal/fecal occult blood test?

you might want to get this checked out, ulcers are very painful, but very treatable too

If it's a cramping feeling, it could be Appendicitis (aka you'll have your appendix removed). I just had this and the pain was around the same location as you described. The pain just got worse and worse so if it's subsided you should be ok. If it comes back though, you might want to think about a hospital.

your appendix is on the right side, about 2/3 of the way from your belly button to your right hip bone
