View Full Version : Tourney Idea for MTT'ers ... Please read (Gauging interest)

Well I failed with the WPT Legends satellite, if anything I realized that a smaller buy in with rebuys is better for sats but I digress. Would any MTT'ers be interested in playing in a 'Poker Superstars' format tournament, perhaps there are either some private SNGs or we private MTTs of different formats followed by playoffs, heads up matches and eventually a champion of the MTT forum. This would be a little bit like KOTZ, however, would only be for MTT regulars and would be for bragging rights more than straight up money, we could encourage side bets, last longers and more to sweeten the pot, however, the tournies themselves would be low buy in so we could get even smaller buy in players involved. Let me know what the interest is and I could start throwing together a site/schedule/points system.

Yea that would be fine exit, I just wouldnt want people who never post here. If we could get a field of like 32 I think it would be a lot of fun, not to mention it would be an easy number to work with.

The idea would be something like this.
-6 Prelim rounds, possibly just 6 deep stack MTTs of NLHE, possibly some variants. Higher places get points.
-32 player max
-$50 entry sent to me on a site and tucked away for end of tourney
-$10-$20 buy in for each events
-Last longers and other side bets to be down in house and be written in stone.
-Top 16-24 move to playoff round
-Playoffs include 75%-80% of qualifiers shooting for 6-8 seats, top 4-6 finishers receive bye to next round
-Once down to 12 we would set up 4, 3 man SNGs, winner advances, chip stacks determined by points
-4 SNG winners play 2 heads up matches
-Losers of heads up play in consolation match
-Winners play best of 3 for title

-Prizes would go something like....
1st - 50% ($800 using 32 players)
2nd - 25%
3rd - 15%
4th - 10%

Plus all moneys from events, would be something like $320 prize pools, maybe do only top 2 get money so it is at least some monetary gain.

There could easily be some serious side bets that make things far more lucrative, also the bigger structure would eliminate SNG luck factor later in tourney. Structure could always be altered as this is off the top of my head. It would be fun to crown a champion of this forum.

-I would likely tuck my tail between my legs and go back to gamesgrid to set up the deep stack tournies, otherwise we'd be looking at crapshoots elswhere, of course I could likely find another site to do this too.

There would be a possibiliy to put a 1% vig on the tournies and collect them into a pool (6 * 32 players = $192 for a trophy or bracelet for winner) as gamesgrid has said they will run tournies with no vig for us. I would just need a set in stone lineup of players before I take this to them after the WPT sat debacle, this is where the $50 entry fee comes in too because I would be assured to have the interest there.

Anyhoo, thats the idea.

I'm in. Although I'd actually prefer if we made the buyin a little higher. I think a higher buyin would justify better play. I can see a small buyin turning into a play money donk fest for bragging rights against who could suck out against who the best.

insanely busy at work, buying a house, remodeling then selling my condo, moving...other than that, not much happening. Oh, that and I'm trying to get up early to play basketball at 5am 3 times a week, so that severely cuts down at my pm twoplustwo time.

edit: oh, and i'm preparing for my fantasy football drafts, so i can be found in the sporting events forum discussing the in's and out's of the Denver running game.

I'd play, but given my schedule I probably could only play a couple of times, so having everything being cumulative is a negative for me.
