I had t3200 chips in the bubble and finished 4th. Did I play these two hands correctly? I assume that the 1st hand is correct, but I am unsure about the 2nd hand... am I risking too much by pushing here w/ only J5s?

Hand 1 is fine. Hand 2 fold PF.

You had >10BB, this is why its not recommended to push with >10BB. Raise to 500-600, if he pushes you can fold. If he calls you can check/fold(barring hitting a monster).

Actually it's alright to push because the two to act after him have around 10BB and 8BB respectively, but I fold that for sure.

Im sorry, I thought he was SB and trying to take the BB chips. Definatly a fold w/two more to act.

Thanks gigastack... both of your replys have provided a why I should do something and that is very helpful... and often missing from people's advice on this forum... now if I can just apply it /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Heh I just realized that I didn't provide any reasons, and that's my effin new years resolution and here it is already August! So...

Hand 1 you're likely way ahead because shorties range is so wide and you want it HU, so you were absolutely correct to push.

Hand 2 I would *not* raise a smaller amount. I would fold or push, in that order. Since you are comfy in your stack size where you are right now, you can look for a better spot to push IMO. As I think you already suspect based on your post title, the risk is too high (for almost your whole stack if you get a call) for the <10% increase in stack size for you. I cannot confirm this with ICM, as I don't have that sweet program! Which reminds me I've got to get it. Peace.

Now that is a nice constructive reply. Thanks! I agree with everyone's assessment, even before my post, but after my all-in /images/graemlins/tongue.gif ... I hate when I push impulsively...
