nearly two months ago i posted this (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=exchange&Number=277858 9&Forum=f20&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=50&Main=2778 589&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=8871&daterange= 1&newerval=4&newertype=m&olderval=&oldertype=&body prev=#Post2778589)

It didn't quite work out then, but today i went and picked out "fancy" in cage 24 (http://www.doglicense.com/counties/cuyahoga/adopt/adopt2.htm)

She will most likely need a new name, and i am looking to OOT for help, so toss out some ideas.
I was thinking "check raise", but that phrase comes up so often in conversation around here that she might get confused.

I also like Ann marie, she has to get spayed so we have untill friday to pick out some names and run a poll.

Mayhaps i will just call her OOT.

OOT is way better than check/raise.

For God's sake, no. Looks like a great dog, one that deserves a name that isn't total bullshit.

The dog doesn't give a crap what her name is, the name is for hte owner, dogs just want food and frolicking (and maybe a little peanut butter if you catch my drift).

My friend names all his dogs after hot chicks. He's had a bunch over the years. Raquel (Welch), Halle (Berry), Jessy (Alba) and Christi (Brinkley) are some of the ones he's had/have. He always buys females. Dogs that is.

Be that as it may, there's a certain amount of principle involved here. If that dog's getting a gimmick name, it'd better be a good one.

I had a girlfriend with a cat named this. So maybe for a dog you go with see-ay-tee.

"Lady" is pretty good.

If you want poker related, maybe "Bluff" - or maybe "Evey" (as in EV)

Name it Dolly as in "Texas Dolly"

"...forms attachments to new people quickly. She acts housetrained and..."

um, ACTS housetrained. ACTS? either she is or she isnt. do you want some sneaky dog crapping in unlikely places?

actually, rock on, shes a cutie. i had a golden retreiver/collie mix from the pound and she was a great dog. girl dogs are better, guys are such a pain in the ass to walk, what with pissing on anything vertical. it really slows you down in the morning.

this kid i play cards with was telling me he went to some ones house and they had this little dog and he asked what its name was and the owner says "ask him" so my friend gets down on his knees and affects that stupid voice stupid people use when talking to dogs and says "whats your name?"

the owners like "dude, no, his name is ask him"
best dog name ever.

my vote is for spot, though.

First off you should have gone with Maverick. Well actually I'm kind of torn on that... when I decided I wanted a Rott, I went to a breeder since I lived in Atlanta, and everyone said don't adopt one in Atlanta.

Anyway, names are a funny thing. When I went to get my Rott, I had planned on naming him either "Thor" or "Achilles", but he was too cute, so I named him "Brodie".

This reminds me of a story:

When I was in the 5th grade, this stray dog came around the school in the morning. I had just seen The Jerk so I called the dog Shithead. This 6th grade teacher, an e-nun, heard me and came over and demanded to know what I was calling the dog. So I told her "Shithead". She said, "Why would you call the dog that?" So I said, "Well he didn't come to Spot."

The principal was not amused.
