Inquiry For Sports Betting Knowledge

Big sports fan. But know nothing about sports betting. I've made the occasional bet with my friend saying "So and so is gonna win." But where can I learn more about all the intrices of sports betting and what not? I would love to learn more about it and get in a position where I can make profitable bets. Can anyone direct me to a book maybe or some source of information?
