Well it only two a few weeks for Iraq to ban their reporters. Here's a link to the story:

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=2498038

Today was the first day that I could access

http://www.aljazeera.net/index.htm

in the Arabic language, but the English version has been hacked and now blocked since they have launched it:

http://english.aljazeera.net

I get the following message when trying to access this site:

"You are not authorized to view this page

So who ordered the blocking, and why don't they want the English version to be seen?

Yes Mark, I believe thay are running those big US corporations you despise that are censoring all our news outlets. Strike from within!!

Jimbo,

The method for striking within is to aim for the leadership by distroying it's financial structure. For example, in the case of NBC's treatment of Arnett, you could organize a boycott of General Electric products. This could be done by providing people with substitute products for the ones they normally purchase. For instance, you could boycott GE brand light bulbs for starters.

Since, Disney is the parent company of ABC you could easily boycott Disneyland and Disneyworld, boycott Beuna Vista films, and provide people that believe in your cause alternate sources of entertainment.

CBS is owned by Viacom which is another entertainment company that could be wounded by boycotting their productions (I know less about this company, but I can go to their web site and find out what businesses they are in).

The only method that works against corporations is the bottom line.

Guns are for killing thugs like Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, and the rest of them on the FBI terrorist list.

In banning al-Jazeera, they find themselves in illustrious company: the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq banned al-Jazeera jounralists from the trading floor last week because they don't regard them as a "responsible" organisation.

So, now we have Saddam, numerous arab dictatorships (including a host of US-backed ones), and probably the CIA, all trying to shut al-J up.
Incidentally al-Jazeera isn't the only site to have myseriously been taken down. www.aeronautics.ru (http://www.aeronautics.ru) has been providing in-depth coverage of the war, often not favourable to coalition forces and often coming up with stories that appeared in the mainstream press a few days later. THe following statement is now on its homepage:

Welcome to the special Wartime Edition of the Aeronautics.Ru What you see is the lighter version of the usual main page. This is a temporary measure designed to improve the response time of this site. The server was overloaded by unexpected increase in traffic as well as by attempted denial of service attacks coming mainly from US-based domains.

I forgot to mention, the hotel al-Jazeera reporters were holed up in was shelled yesterday by coalition forces. Well done.

I'm with marbles on the clementine fruit thing.
