My second baby is due in December. My wife and I have narrowed it down to 5 choices. How do you guys feel about these names?

What is the name of your first kid?

I just was hanging out with a guy named Blake...and while I think the name is pretty cool apparently tons of people call him Jake accidentally and stuff...which is dumb. Not that that really has anything to do with anything...meh.

I'm partial to 'Seven'.

"Seven? Yeah, I guess I could see it. Seven. Seven periods of
school, seven beatings a day. Roughly seven stitches a beating, and eventually seven years to life. Yeah, you're doing that child quite a service."

Harvey all the way baaybee.

The only Harvey I know is 90, wears members only jackets, and has a bad rug. He's one of the nicest guys I've known though.

colin with 1 L is better than anything on this list by far

"Cooper's" got kind of a tight, Shaft-esque feel to it.

If it turns out you are the father, I will consider making him ShitHead Jr.

How about Jack, Lou, Vinnie, Al, Chuck etc...

Seriously- don't you want the kid that will administer the beatings instead of taking them?

Gotta be Blake out of this list. The kid's not 85, so Harvey's out. the other three; too much alliteration.

Don't name him Cooper, unless you haven't seen "Jaws".

I know that the Richard Dreyfuss character was named "Hooper", but you won't be able to get Robert Shaw's voice out of your head every time you call your kid's name.

Coopah? Coopah!

god this made me laugh!

I actually like the name Connor a lot but I once knew a guy with that name and people called him Connie and that's just not right. So I voted for Collin instead. That's a very good name that anyone would be proud of.

I can't get used to Cooper but maybe that's a generational thing. I remember when I named my son Justin my elderly mother thought it was ridiculous and contrived. Go figure.

Blake - that's a surname
Cooper - Ditto
Colin - only has one L and is a nerd name anyway
Connor - I think it should have two Ns but the variant is acceptable
Harvey - It's another surname.

I vote for Connor (it's a good solid name, and both the Connors I've been friends with were good men).

But yeah, why do people inflict crazy names on their child?

Someone was watching comedy central last night.

I vote for a "normal" name as well. I've got one of the names on your list, and while its ok and all, I'm just going to name my sons mainstream names.

Oddly enough, Blake has been in the top 100 american given names since 1989 SSA (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/)
That said, i vote colin with one L.

Well the majority of my friends and family have also agreed wit the poll results.

We have decided to go with Colin. Thanks for the help. Maybe one day he'll be feared worldwide.....

Colin. My brother is Sean Michael, my parents wanted to keep the Irish thing going.

Its not like it was prone to horrible insults - "Cologne" was about as creative as it got in grade school - but its just a pain in the ass. Example: whenever I eat anywhere that needs to call my name out, I just tell them "Bob" to avoid the hassle of saying my name, repeating it, and then spelling it out.

EDIT: Your kid is going to be telling people "Bob" at fast food restaurants for the rest of his life. And the filter doesn't catch "ass?"

GIRLS want unique names. They want to be unique. That's why they can't stand to see another woman in the same dress.

BOYS do NOT want to be unique. That's why tuxedoes look like uniforms.

Girls get the off-beat, unique names. Boys go with John, James, William, etc.
