Has Peachy's minivan-sized projection system filled you with an insatiable curiosity?

I've always been a Sony guy. I suppose when I make the leap to HD I'll have to consider everything.

Cool poll, I /images/graemlins/heart.gif my TV!

I picked up a 57" Hatachi Ultravision HD Ready Rear-Projection last year. (Oh yeah! Widescreen (I think most RP's are though))

At the time (and still imo) flats are not where they need to be. Since they are so popular with the yuppies though, awesome deals can be had on rear-projection.

I think I paid $1900 and it's awesome. No side viewing issues, crisp picture and a ton of input options.

I will not consider a flat screen for at least another 3 years when the technology/costs lower to acceptable consumer levels. Right now, they are overpriced by far.

46 inch Widescreen Toshiba DLP Projection with HD. Bought it 3 days ago. It's beautiful. I sit too close because apartment is small. I get by.

Why no love for widescreen tvs between 26 and 30 inches?

EDIT: I see, I take it I'm meant to choose 30 inch and the or smaller is implied?

well, i'm tv shopping, and after looking at/reading about a lot of tv's i thought the poll might be interesting.
but yes peachy's gigantazoid tv came to mind at one point /images/graemlins/tongue.gif (no i don't want one that big!!).

also i'm hoping for results to show my boyfriend i'm not being as unreasonable as he thinks about the tv size i want. (32 widescreen , maybe 37). he's being weird.

mostly just got curious, though.

Since you might be a girl this poll is kind of cute.

Nevertheless, Creepy Guys' "How bad is your acne?" poll (his 1st post as I recall) is still the best I've ever seen.

maybe, we don't need bigger than 37" though. if we went bigger than that we'd pretty much have to get a projection, and neither of us really want one of those. he doesn't think we need bigger than 30, so i doubt anything over 37 is going to be the answer. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

not sure if we will get CRT or LCD yet.

i don't know, they don't look good unless you're looking at them straight on. and we just don't need a tv that big. and they are expensive. we haven't looked at them too much because my bf didn't seem into them at all. we'll probably just get a CRT, they're suppose to be best for picture anyway aren't they ? plus they're least expensive. it just sucks that they're so huge and heavy.

I have a pretty big library, I've read a ton of books, and I still don't understand people who say reading is intellectual and TV is stupid.

No huge difference to me.

I have two, one HD monitor the 65" Sony CRT downstairs and an RCA DLP 61" HDTV in my master bedroom upstairs. After watching football in HD a few years ago I had to have it at my home. Our local cable system offered HD boxes in July of 03 and I've had it ever since.

I still watch some non-HD programming but mainly DVD's or sporting events and news programs (on FOX of course).

the viewing angles are much better now. for hd content, you do want one that big. look at http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html and consider the viewing distance it suggests for thx/smpte. for the price of a decent 37" flat panel you can get a 50" rear projection lcd.
