I am trying to open up my game a little, and have been running into some trouble. How would you play this hand? And if someone says fold preflop I will smack them.

You're gonna have to smack me. Fold preflop.

I think the rest of the hand is reasonable. I probably would have checked the flop. I'm really not that exited about 2nd pair, good kicker, eventhough 5 people checked to me.

Unless your name is Tommy Reed, I'd push.

No, I like his preflop call. He has the odds to do it when there are a lot of limpers, and he's in late position (the button actually).

Since you don't have any real info on the players (being early in the game) I would make the assumption that most of the players in the game have at least some idea what they are doing (being a $20+2 tourney).

jeetwala sees the two T's out there and, provided he is not bluffing, he has to be resonably sure that he can beat a set of T's (with two opponents left, chances are good one has a T). Therefore, I would have to draw the conclusion that he either made the flush, made a straight (holding JQ) or has three T's himself, perhaps KT which would give him the full house. It's also possible he has pocket K's, but I would think he would have been more agressive after the flop had that been the case.

His passive play on 4th street would seem to indicate that he has the set, but he also may have been slowplaying a nut flush, being that he was first to bet. It could also indicate that he only had middle pair until the T came up on the river. He could also be bluffing, but that's an awfully big risk this early in the tourney, so I would bet against that.

With 2 to 1 pot odds, I would likely play it the same as you and show him down. Even if you lose, you still have around 430 chips (with low blinds) and you gained valuable infomation about jeetwala's betting habits.

Disclaimer: I am by no means a poker pro. This is simply how I think I would have handled this hand.

Short of the obvious AKJ, QQT, etc flops, what hand does he hit where he welcomes action? He's going to be dominating no hands, will never have the best draw, and constantly be worrying about being outkicked or outdrawn.

Meh. But I like the river call.
