Good question. I don't think anyone can really tell you for sure exactly which of these are profitable calls and which aren't. I don't know.

FWIW though I fold all of the offsuit ones and fold QJs. I call with the others. I call with any pocket pair.

depends on if i've been folding alot from the blinds due to aggression combined with a particulary bad mix of random hands. i may call with any one given a particular scenario. that said, all suited excluding JTs and 910s on a frequent basis and almost always AJs and KQs. an online TAG is actually a range of statistical characteristics so some variance may apply as to a TAG more on the tight side preflop resulting in my being more selective pf.

I find it interesting that you call with JTs but not T9s. Reverse domination is potentially much worse for JTs, and I don't think there's much difference in the hands.

One's got pretty colors and a dude on it, and the other's just a number, duh.

I call em all, maybe 3bet a couple occasionally and figure it out post flop.

Excellent post and great timing pokerjunky. I suggest you all read Hand #9 in HGIYLHE, first question, where the hero holds 55 vs an UTG raise from "The Man"... a good playing hard to read TAG. The recommendation is to fold. I never did before I read Middle Limit Hold'em, and then I started to question the validity of playing on or folding.

In short I haven't made any final decisions yet how I play many of the better hands such as AJs... but for now I'm calling until I see more evidence in either direction.

Ok maybe I am stupid but why the hell are you calling an UTG raiser TAG with any of these holdings. What's he raising with?

AA-TT, AKs, AKo, AQs, AQo, AJs, KQs 70 possibilities

Depending on the player KQo, AJo, 99 100 possibilities

In most cases your dominated and your out of position. being suited does not matter much since your heads up. If he holds AK, AQ, AA-JJ thats 56 hands that have you clobbered out of 70, or 100 if he raises with KQo, AJo, 99.

What happens after the flop?
You miss you give him 2 small bets

You hit and he misses you gain 3 bets.

You hit and he hit and he has you dominated you loss a lot of small bets.

1 bad, 1 good, 1 really bad situation and don't forget your 1st to act. Where is this profitable?

Id rather call with 76s or at least a pair if I am playing at all. Much easier to play.

If I had to pick I would select T9s. That way if he holds TT or 99 at least I won't flop a pair and lose tons of money. I also have the best chance to win since my cards are most likely live
