yes, but your "way behind" to a set here is only 40%-60%....

Ashwell has a set and you are better than even to catch a straight or a flush so I guess you have to call. I would have never called a raise preflop though.

Hey, man-
What you should know is that your hand is insta fold PF. You could play that from the button with a few/several LIMPERS or happily complete from the SB hoping to flop a monster, but as soon as it gets raised you fold- especially with your position. What is your plan if there is a reraise and a flat call behind you and you're now way out of position. You need to think about where you are and how your hand will play post flop. 1st MP after the flop with a raised pot and low suited connectors is not the way to start off your tourney.
As for you're call after butchering this hand- yes. You are so committed now you no other choice but to call for your last t900 getting better than 2:1 on what is probably a coin flip. Try to avoid these situations in the future.

I was saying both could be out there... I know it's unlikely. I just don't like calling the 3xBB raise with low suited connectors - if you do, I guess this is what you want to see, so stick it in there? I don't know. I don't want to see this in the first place is what I'm saying. But I play on PP, so I'm pretty much never faced with that decision anyway - and can find more obvious +EV situations later. gl.

Well, calling a raise in EP with a baby suited connector is pretty donkish, so fold preflop. Aside from that, I'd call the push. You likely have 15 outs, as long as villian isn't semi-bluffing a higher flush draw here (which would be idiotic, given the action in front of him). You've already invested a third of your stack and you have the odds to call, so push and pray.

thank you to all that posted. I know that 45 (suited or not) should be a fold that early, i guess i was just feeling extra frisky being the first hand of the day and all.

i hit the 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif on the river, giving me a 9 high flush, but also turning his trip 3s into a boat.

Just play on Partypoker next time, that way you dont have to worry about deepstack play.

yes, i would, but unfortunately, all my money goes toward my apt (living in nyc is a bit pricey)
