View Full Version : MicroPoster Up for Grabs

08-19-2005, 02:17 PM
My session seems to be just about played out. It's time for me to go back into the shadows and give someone else a chance at this. If you have any more discussion on my session wrap it up over the weekend as I will name a new MicroPoster on Sunday night.

This time I want a number 1-1000. Closest to the number I'm thinking of wins the Microposter password.

Please make sure you have at least 100 posts in micro before bidding as we want to reward the contributers to this forum. Make sure you are up to the task actually converting and posting 100 hands and will have the time to do it early next week before trying to guess the number.

Good luck and thanks for all the feedback! You guys are the best!

I think we should make these slightly less frequent. Perhaps one every 2 weeks. Response & interest has been tapering off.

I think we should give it to somebody who really needs it, like Howard Stern does with breast implants. Tell us your micro sob story, and everyone with at least 500 posts gets to vote.

I bet you could extrapolate it based on previous number guessing games if you had the time /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I disagree with this. My session was just too boring. The last MicroPoster encouraged me not cull out the stupid hands and pick a random session and 100 consecutive hands which is what I did. Part 1 was a losing session and Part 2 was a winning one. In retrospect it probably would have been more helpful to not bother converting the totally obvious folds and instead just list the hole cards and say these hands were folded ie fold 83o, fold 25o, fold 92o, fold 24o, then post any hand that is even marginally interesting. My session had perhaps 7 interesting hands out of 100. That doesn't inspire much converstation or show any trends in my game. I honestly think this could have been much more useful to me if I had more hands where there was any kind of decision to be made and some trends could emerge.

FWIW, I agree. But nobody has ever asked for some means of selecting the MP other than lottery.

So I guess if people have something to say about how the MP is selected, speak up.

how about a simpler method:

a thread is started where anyone with interest in being the MicroPoster can post their interest in being selected.

then, the current MP just chooses someone. i think we can all handle being honorable enough to let the MP know if we have already been selected...or just say publicly who the MP was after each session.

thoughts?

this is a good idea, I think the best canditates are the people who just moved to 1/2 and are struggling, since thats a common struggling point for people here

I think that once you start posting hands at the 1/2 level, you begin to preclude a huge majority of the posters from the discussion. I think we should be trying to help the guys why are having trouble at .5/1 and lower, as opposed to guys who have already played tens of thousands of hands as a winning player. Just my opinion.

Even though you've played 100k hands, you can still be making mistakes. Also, it's just as beneficial for bad players to see a good player do something and think "damn, why did he do that? I would have never thought of doing that".

Btw, even though I "only have 68 posts", I better be eligible =)

OK guys give me your sob stories and perhaps I'll be thinking of your number. These things have a funny way of coincidentally working themselves out. I think this Microposter might just be thinking of a number a struggling player might guess.

Here's my story: $5 to $3000 between .02/.04 up to .5/1. On my way from $3000 to $5 at 1/2. Is that good enough?

As someone with apparently too tight 18/8 stats trying to loosen up, I would very very much like to see someone with stats like mine getting ripped a new one by some of the more LAGgy posters. I think a few people would find it useful as well, so I would appreciate it if you do choose someone like this... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously though, if not me, it would be helpful for someone like this to be the next poster, as according to quite a few of the veterans, we are missing quite a bit of value playing like this.

PS, I suck postflop too...

My sob story: After pretty fairly crushing the game my first 25k hands, I'm running at 0.09 BB/100 my last 10k. (This is after "turning it around" with 1.5 BB/100 the last 2k.)

I'll try 333 this time. Running cold lately, but I think it's just cold-decked (I hope). Getting pretty good cards pre-flop, seems to miss a lot of flops, though. Would be nice to confirm, though /images/graemlins/grin.gif
