Tell me what you know or think about the Excalibur.

Thanks

Total dump with an ok poker room

Jeffage

Total dump and in an inconvenient location. Stay somewhere on the South End of the strip...I recommend Flamingo. Reasonable rates, nice hotel right across the street from Bellagio, down the street from Mirage and not too far from Wynn. I really like the location.

I dont stay there anymore. Here's a little known secret about vegas. The Monte Carlo is the best deal in town if you call the poker room and tell them u will be playing there. They will give u a discounted rate that is cheaper than the Westward Ho...and its a really really nice hotel. That's where I stayed during the WSOP this year.

I'm already doing it, but I'm pretty convinced I won't actually use the room.

I have never known anyone not to be disappointed with the excalibur. My two picks for nice enough and usually reasonable are the Monte Carlo and Harrahs. The Orleans is surprisingly nice, if you're willing to be off strip.

I hear they have stand-up only showering facilities in the rooms...Tiny too, like a motel 6.

A hooker could probably spruce it up for you.

oh you better believe it. this is my first time in vegas, and I'm going balls out. Literally when the hooker is there.

damn... and your posts have been on fire this week. I suck. I tell you what though, I got round trip direct-flight tickets and 2 nights in this "hotel" for $210.

I've heard that hookers in Vegas are reeeeealy expensive. And that they just show up and take ur $ and leave.

That's ok, I pay hookers with counterfeit money.

Mat Sklansky

In that case you may remember the excalibur as the best hotel in existence. Be careful choosing. The escort business is full of scams. I don't have any specific advice, but I'm sure there must be some people around here who will.

Indiana
08-19-2005, 12:04 PM
I've never had an escort in vegas, just heard that its not great. Whatta I know.

Anybody?

Whatever - for $210 (including flight?), you're not going to use the room for anything but storage anyway, although it's a bad location. $210 might as well be free, so I guess you're still getting a decent price. If it's your first trip, then you'll figure it out for next time.

BusterStacks
08-19-2005, 12:07 PM
although i wouldn't know what to do, i am going with 3 crazy mo-fo's who definitely would do something stupid if they got scammed by a hooker. Also, apprently someone "knows a guy".

Indiana
08-19-2005, 12:08 PM
They may not scam u...they may even do you...but i would guess that it'll be >=$500.

I stayed there one night a couple years ago. It's pretty blah, but the location isn't bad.

Near the MGM Grand, which has a shiny new cardroom.

Of course, if you want to be a baller, you should just stay at MGM. Or Mandalay Bay. Or the Bellagio. Or the Mirage. etc, etc...

BusterStacks
08-19-2005, 12:11 PM
I did not book the trip. I just heard I can go to vegas with friends for 3 days for $210 and plunked down the cash.

I stayed at the Tropicana a couple of months ago. It was around $50 a nite. OK place to sleep. OK p*k*r room. Right across the street from MGM. $15 cab ride to Wynn.

The Excalibur sucks relative to the rest of Vegas, but you did not make a mistake here. You'll figure out that there are better places to stay next time, but this is far from the worst thing in the world for $210.

Well, the price is definitely right. I'd "stay there" if it was that cheap, and just play poker and drink all night elsewhere.

Last time I went (with Joel), we overpaid to stay at the Tropicana because my gay homosexual friends were too prude about sharing beds in a nicer place.

Might try the $100 bill trick when checking in.

I stayed at Paris a couple years ago compliments of an online gaming site. Nice place, across the street from Bellagio and my rooms were free. NOT good enough fo ra high roller like myself. Upon checkin I flashed a Franklin and asked if there were any "free" upgrades available. After checking with the manager and I'm sure negotiating the split I was given a very nice suite.

So I went from a $125/night room to a $350/night suite for $100 and this was a 3 night stay. Suite was probably 900 sq ft or so. Wet bar, jacuzzi, sitting room, 2 baths, 2x daily maid service which included fresh flowers, turn down service and access to the concierge suite where sandwiches, breakfast items and drinks were available 24/7.

Give it a try. Suites at the Excalibur can't be all that bad.

For the same reason they don't just stay at the Motel 6 for $30 a night. The experience. Stayed at Mirage when I was out there, and I just liked knowing, hey, I've got a sweet room to crash in, and its at the friggin' Mirage .

FWIW i thought the excaliber was kinda fun. keep in mind i was staying at the barbary coast, so anything was nice compared to that. my super donk friends were really down for the 1-3 spread limit game with 1 1 dollar blind and free drinks...otherwise it was a total low class shithole. there is no way i am staying anywhere but the bellagio next time.

It's great for middle-aged+ people who don't play poker and have teenage kids they can send off to the arcade all day. Go to the ESPN Zone and get an ESPN Burger with bacon while you're there. If you're lucky, there'll be an eating competition or some pseudo-B-list celebrity there. I'm serious about the burger, though - it's awesome.

All you hotel snobs need to get a grip. Try staying at the Wagon Wheel Motel in Mountain View, Wyoming and you'll soon learn that the urine smell is a damn blessing. To the OP, any hotel on the strip in Vegas is going to be plenty good for a few nights of gambling and drinking. Like Jake said, it's Vegas, so you shouldn't be spending too much time in the room anyway.
