View Full Version : How much tighter should I be?

08-19-2005, 09:44 AM
Hi all,

I have been playing 3/6 (6 max) on party poker for a while with success, but I recently purchased poker tracker and found my stats to be way out of line with what people usually post. I only play shorthanded rooms, and I actively look for heads-up and 3-handed situations if possible, and I would say that 3-handed or less constitutes at least 1/3 of my hands.

Total hands: 27,404
VP$IP: 42.49%
vp$SB: 56.12%

folded sb to steal: 59.14%
folded bb to steal: 35.19%
folded bb to steal HU: 27.51%

Att to steal blinds: 47.13%

Amount won: 9627.52

BB per 100 hands: 5.86

Aggression factor:

Preflop = 1.88
Flop = 1.89
Turn = 2.04
River = 2.05

total = 1.93

Folded to river bet: 43.76%

I feel like I am makin good decisions post flop a lot of the time, but should I tighten up given the game I play? Are there any other stats that I didn't post that would be relevent? Have I just been extremely lucky to find people who will call down every hand with jack high? I know my sample size isn't huge. Any and all criticism welcome.

Thanks

That's a pretty low winrate for 3/6. Tightening up would help a lot.

If you want criticism on 3-handed and HU, filter for 2-3 handed play, ditto for 5-6 handed.

Huh? What sort of winrate do folks expect around here?

Excel?

Excel was a martyr who's mission was to convince the world that very, very loose and aggressive play maximized profit in 6 max games. His quest was short-lived as he met much resistance and eventually he perished into obscurity.

Out of curiousity, what is your standard deviation per 100 hands? You can find this stat in the 'Session Notes' tab under 'More Detail'.

If the OP is playing a lot of supershort, he's nowhere near excel status.

Oh, and we pretty much expect at least 6BB/100 here. That's for the average player.

6bb/100? Since when do we all stop pushing ourselves? Wasn't the verdict that a good player who doesn't tilt can take 7.5bb+/100 off the 3/6 tables?

Filter hands for 2 handed, 3 handed, etc through 6 handed. If those were your VPIP for 5-6 handed that is wayyyy too loose.

Just checked the standard deviation--

24.6022 big bets per 100 hands. I'm guessing this number is ridiculous.

I once made a note from the archives that Nate Tha Great was 46% vpip in 3 handed games.

Id take that as a good benchmark, although hes an expert player he can probably get away with a few more hands,

So compare that to your filtered figures.

His quote was

[ QUOTE ]
2-handed 55% VPIP
3-handed 46% VPIP
4-handed 36% VPIP
5-handed 29% VPIP
6-handed 25% VPIP

55 VPIP 2-handed? This seems way low. Does the Party structure of having the button be the BB instead really change things that much?
