(1) Coach Doherty gets fired today
The last couple seasons are so far below Carolina standards it's laughable. I love the man, and think he's a phenomenal recruiter and coach, but he should have stayed at Notre Dame where he could have made his own legacy rather than take arguably the most prestigious (and therefore demanding) coaching position in college hoops.

(2) George Karl is ultimately hired to replace him - after Roy Williams spurns them again
Karl has an 'out' clause which he had written into his current contract with the Bucks which allows him to end his contract if Carolina comes calling. This clause was inserted after Sen. Kohl refused to let Karl talk to Carolina before they ended up hiring Doherty. Carolina is his dream job, and for whatever reason, the Carolina faithful are almost as enamored of Karl as they are of wayward son Roy Williams.

(3) They should hire Larry Brown, but won't
The problem with Larry is that he won't talk to them until the Sixers' playoff run is done, while Karl will talk to them tomorrow. If the Sixers go deep in the Eastern Conference (a decent possibility), Carolina won't be able to deal with the pressure of being coachless just before summer recruiting. It also doesn't help that the longer it drags on, the more transfer threats and actual transfers they'll have...
