I still don't quite grasp when a flop raise with overcards makes sense. In this case, I figured there was good chance I had 6 outs. I decided to pop the flop bet to get a free card. I did get the free card, but I'm not sure it made any sense to begin with.

Ultimate Bet 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
4 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, BB calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 2/images/graemlins/club.gif, 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, BB calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: (4.25 BB) 2/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 4.25 BB

Here is a great thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=smallholdem&Number=2737416 &fpart=1&PHPSESSID=) about raising overcards. A must read if you haven't.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

My instinct is to bet the river here. It seems to me there's more than a one-in-five chance the BB folds.

I think if BB folds, he didn't fold a better hand.

I agree, NEVER bet that river, if ur beat by 1 pair his loose butt will call, and if he missed a draw, hes fold. there is no +EV to betting that river
