View Full Version : Losing an extra $30/hr in the BB

Just noticed this.

http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/5436/position6vj.jpg

If my wr in the BB was more reasonable (0.16), I would be making (or not losing) an extra $30/hr.

Given that this is a small sample and that my BB rate is usually more reasonable (in the .16 range), this is just variance, right?

Yup

EDIT: FYI, I'm (0.14)/(0.06) after a significant amount of hands

Why is your VPIP 19?

You have waaay too few hands to look at results by position. You're just runnin' bad probably.

I'm pretty sure you can get bad cards or not quite good enough, like you have something worth raising a loose limper with but there is a raise in front, for that amount of hands. My VP$IP is only a bit higher for the last 10k hands and I don't think I'm tight at all except UTG.

I'm not a stat expert, but I think VPIP converges to a ridiculous confidence interval after 10K hands.

Yeah, maybe but there are always extremes and playing with certain opponents for a couple of hundred hands can cut down the number of hands you want to play against them and 10k hands aren't that many. I think whatshisname... Scotch78 made a post about a month ago where he was running even lower over several thousand hands. I'll certainly agree that I am on the tight side of most posters here but I just don't think I am THAT tight.

Well, I've got like 16 or 17k at 3/6, and my vpip has never been higher than about 19.5

It was 21ish over 36k at 5/10, most likely due to my looser play in the SB.

Yes, you're probably running bad, but you're probably also playing bad in the blinds. Your loss rates in the blinds are ~2x what they "should be."

Maybe that is it. I'm really tight in the small blind at 3/6.

You SHOULD be very tight in the SB at 1/3 blind structure. There's not a reason to spew chips here.

You are a really, really tight player.

Win rate over 1500 hands?

Seriously, it wouldn't hurt to post your stats and standards for calling raises from the BB and see what people say, but your result has little statistical significance.

My 5/10 sample is several times larger than your sample. I notice that my cutoff win rate is better than the button.

Some months back I had a lengthy run where my SB results in a 1/2 bet structure full-ring game were *positive*.

None of this means anything. It's noise.

Yeah. At the end of my first 10k hands of 5/10 (admittedly, 2/5 blind structure), I was a winner in the SB.

I was sticking around .02 for a while SB Win rate and a few weeks later I'm down to (.05). That is over 40K hands of 5/10. I don't really care what my SB winrate is as long as it doesn't go much more than (.08).
