I think Villain had around $350 and I had him covered. He's another rockish player...16/2 in around 100 hands.

Villain minraises to $8. I figure him for AK or JJ..

Everyone folds and I call the $4 from the BB with 83 (i think it was sooted /images/graemlins/smile.gif)

Flop $18 - J75 rainbow

I check, Villain checks

Turn $18 - T (rainbow)

I check, Villain checks

River $18 - 9

I bet $15, Villain minraises to $30, I push

I don't think anything calls this except a hand that ties you or a hand that beats you. I'd actually just call with a set or two pair on the river against you, but villain raised. Is it so unlikely he has KQ? I really don't like the push.

Fold preflop....Who said that?

Why not just call the river? Doesn't a push only get a call from KQ? I realize PFR is low and he's raising preflop, but you only have 100 hands.

What do you expect a player like this to call your push with that you beat? I think you're only getting called when he beats you.

JJ, TT? possibly AA?

what's my move to the minraise? call? raise to X?

what happens if i raise to $100 and he pushes? do i call that? fold?

Call the min-raise.

I rarely see a rock like this that is capable of checking a flopped set or an overpair twice, but I suppose TT is at least plausible. If you have reason to believe that this one is capable of that, then the push is a little better.

Maybe I'm just weak-tight with the ignorant end, but I just call the min-raise on the end. If you reraise, and he pushes, you will have to fold, so I don't do it.

Yuck. This would be a great move if your straight was 10 high or lower, but with 9TJ on the board, he either calls with AQ or KQ and wins or folds anything else. The nice thing about 83 is if you make a hand, it will be very deceiving. But on this board, he probably puts you on a Q and calls to split. Also, since he is 16/2, I don't see him ever minraising without the goods.

Think I get your idea. He got a straigth with an 8, and he is likely to fold that, since he is a tigth player?

i dont think he is trying to get better hands to fold. i think he is trying to get worse hands to call. if he folds a str8 here then u can definitly buddy list him.

ps the OP i smooth call the min-raise.

400nl, rocks will call your push with a set. probably not with AA if u made it 100$ instead u'd get your call from AA.

Looks perfect to me. I bet he called with top set or AA.
