A blanket statement claiming all drugs are bad is clearly wrong (and I'm not implying medical usage to be the reason why). First of all, there are obviously varying degrees of "badness", least harmful being stuff like marijuana and most harmful being stuff like meth/crack. Alcohol is somewhere in between. And, the problem is that most drug users are irresponsible, in both their drug use and the rest of their life. If used in a responsible manner, even some of the "badder" drugs can be OK.

i was actually mentioning hicks b/c i agree with his drug stance. we have too many hypocrites talking all the time about how they got plastered here and what should i stock my bar with? and am i gay for drinking a cosmo--yes you should drink jack and whiskey but when someone mentions the non acceptable drugs everyone trips.

I think I remember him saying..and I could be wrong..that he was the Noam Chomsky of dick jokes. Either way, he was one funny guy. There is a new DVD out with 3 stand up acts of his. Definitely worth seeing.

It is amazing what Ian MacKaye created. He was against dogmas, yet being straight edge is pretty dogmatic. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for the guy.

If you are talking about ileagal drugs, in what context? Is cocaine now bad but wasn't bad when it was legal in this country? What about when it is used for medicinal purposes, as a local anesthesia?

Are you talking about drugs used for recreation purposes only? If so, is alcohol on your list? What about chocolate which has physiological effects (I forget what exactly they are, they may be sertonin related, but I'm not in the mood to go googling.)

It sounds like you have a black and white view of the world, but don't even have any clear definitions of what that world is.

I got this DVD a few months ago, it's great. Bill was brilliant, it's too bad he died before he had a chance to really refine his act. And he died of cancer, I think intestinal, it wasn't drug related.

Drugs aren't bad, drugs are inanimate objects. Are cars bad because they can be used to hit and kill people, or because idiots can kill themselves misusing them? Drug abuse is bad.
