View Full Version : Do you regret having done drugs?

I don't post much, but the coke addict dude got me thinking a little.

Do you have regrets having done drugs? Do you wish you hadn't?

I find a lot of young adults/teens being overly accepting of drugs, not realizing what it does to people in the long run. So a poll like this could maybe shine some light on the issue.

Thanks.

I have done a psychoactive drug, and I can honestly say that I am a better person from it. When you're on things like that, you often see aspects of yourself that you never saw before. Because of that experience, I feel as though I'm more comfortable in my own skin.

However, the way a lot of this came about was from a very bad and scary trip. It taught me a lot about myself, but also made me never want to touch the stuff again.

You do realize you are asking this question to a group of people that comprise 75% of the people you just quoted, right?

I could not agree with you anymore. I can only think of 4 worse drugs I could have tried (meth, crack, pcp, and heroin). It is amazing how quickly it can grab a hold of you. And meth, heroin, and crack are suppossed to be so much worse. I can't imagine trying to stop those things. So, in some weird way, I am grateful that I am quitting coke.

And to answer OP's original question, I don't regret this. I think about a lot of things that have happened in my life and can always smile that there are people that will never know what I have felt. Whether that be pleasure or pain. Because there are A LOT of people who don't feel at all.

p.s. Ummm..almost half of my post was total cheese.

I don't regret weed - but I have massive amounts of regret over alcohol (which I classify as a drug) -

I think part of the rationale behind people that think all drugs should be decriminalized is that there really isn't nearly as many deaths from them as there is alcohol and tobacco. I really can't remember the stats. But, I "think" in 99, there were only like 5-10K deaths directly related to drugs (none of those being pot). Regardless...it was a very tiny number. But, at the same time meth has definitely taken off in the last 6 years. It might even be considered the largest used illegal drug in the states. I guess because it is cheap and can be made and distributed fairly easily in comparison to other hard drugs.

I'm glad those days are over, but I don't regret anything. I wasn't a heavy user of anything though.

I've never understood the use of the term "drugs". which ones? many people are not going to regret using alcohol, some people might regret the year they spent cleaning their apartment on meth.

My guess is that people have more regrets from alcohol than they do from drugs. At least I know that is true for me, and some others in the thread have already mentioned it. If I could go back and never drink, I might, but I'd still have done most of the drugs I tried.

I don't regret trying them, but I do wish I didn't enjoy them so much during the early stages of my adulthood.

No, i can honestly say that I don't regret it. I still dig weed. Shrooms are awesome. Coke was bfd. PCP was so [censored] up that I had to try it a 2nd time to make sure. Bleh. White cross, reds, meh. I found out that the manufactured [censored] blows hard. Natural stuff is cool.

Elaborate. What do "drugs" do to you in the long run? Which drugs? How much usage?

It is silly to make such a general statement about the usage of drugs.

its quite obvious that you have listened to the regan era lunacy and didn't let yourself have some fun since everything you mentioned is rhetoric tjat os given by only two types, 1. AA members who are bitter that they can't still use(there are non bitter AA members) and 2. those who have only ever drank alcohol and decided that saying "no" to drugs was the best thing
