After taking a break I constantly finding myself overestimating my opponents calling standards (and intelligence).

Thoughts?

I often wouldn't because there's 7 people left, meaning you've got a few hands to go before the blinds get back to you. In other words, you have a decent chance of picking up a better hand to push with.

But if you're read on the blinds is that they're super-tight, then you've got to push your any-two hand.

In general, pushing garbage over an UTG limper is not a winning move. If you are going to do it, you should have a good read on your limper that suggest he plays way too many hands and could possibly have something like 78s that he doesn't want to play for half his stack.

i would never do this, but i hear people talking about pvs's all the time, so maybe i should start.

i'd imagine you want
a) more chips so the limper won't call so loosely and/or
b) something a little better against a medium pair like 97o or whatever.

I feel your pain. Got called by BB with 100 in front and 420 behind with 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif. Of course he made a straight and proceeded to berate me for raising with A5 from SB. Gotta love it. Just wish my luckbox wasn't on the blink.

Anyway, back to your hand. I think you can find a better spot. Assuming the blinds get out of the way, limper will have pretty decent pot odds and wouldn't lay down 22+,Ax+ or Kx+ if his life depended on it.

But I may be a little shell shocked.

The more and more I think about this play, the stupider I believe it is.

I have a full rotation to pick up a hand and push with it.

Not only that but my opponent is getting great pod odds to call with the range I put him on limping in EP.

This, my friends, was a moran play on my part.

Do not repeat it.
