So, I grew up in the 'burbs. I was always doing "handy" stuff. I built a table out of walnut when I moved out of the dorms in college (only 2 years of dorms). I can work my way around a wood shop.

I now live in DC

We had a leak in our small condo. It ruined a bunch of our carpet. My wife and I decided to replace our carpet with pergo (fake hardwood flooring).

I found myself cutting pergo with a cheap circular saw over an ironing board .

I will never do any homeimprovement without the space/tools to do it right again.

Dude if you don't have the capabilities to do it right then hiring a professional is definatly +ev.

it didn't turn out too bad....but it was 5 times harder than it needed to be.

Yup. I remember my Grandpa always said, "Use the right tool for the right job." I tell my 3 1/2 year-old that all the time already. On the other hand, i also tell him, "Adapt and overcome." So whichever makes sense at the time I guess. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
