View Full Version : Where did I go wrong here?

Where do you think I went wrong here? Looking back, I think that the flop call was ok, with second pair and a closed straight draw. I think I really should have gotten out at the turn bet however.

Take caution when reading the following: (I'm new!)

I fold preflop.

You have an okay draw here, so it's worth staying in I think... But I'd be more aggressive and try to get him to lay it down on the flop with a raise... then go from there.

I think you should have folded on the flop.

Your gutshot straight draw is not to the nuts, a T on the turn gives you 2-pair but helps to make someone else a straight, and its feasible that someone could have the straight already. I think you'll lose a lot more than you'll gain in this hand by calling on the flop.

As a side note, in future hands like this but with BETTER DRAWS, you might consider betting out on the flop, if you were going to call anyway. This can win you the pot straight away, and can disguise your hand if you do make your draw. I find that people who always check-call with their draws are dead easy to play against, so dont do it.

Edit: I admit that I'm not at all experienced at playing these limits... /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I probably let this go preflop. Certainly let it go facing a pot sized bet on the flop.

I think i'll let this go pre-flop from now on. At these blinds, it's hard to look past the mentality of it only being another cent to complete, but I think that's going to get me in trouble as I move up in limits.
