I may be alone on this one, but I think most vanity license plates are ridiculous.
What's the most retarded vanity plate you've seen?

There's a Volvo sitting next door with an old, blue California license plate that says EL VOLVO. I actually found it pretty funny, but I don't think the car runs.
A Saab with the plate "WASAABI".

Friend and I were going to a concert when an enormous black man pulled up next to us in a really high end BMW. As he pulled away, I noticed the license plate - MADENGR. Took me a few seconds to realize he wasn't a mad engineer.

My dad has one that says REDDDJP, and he drives a red jeep, he thinks it's very clever. My mom has the family initials on hers in typical family lameness.
On an aside one of my friends has the best license plate holder I have ever seen, it says "NUKE THE GAY WHALES".

I live in The OC, home of the cheesy USC vanity plates. I think the worst one I saw was: O2B4USC, but I could start a seperate thread on cheesy USC plates.
I did see IH8USC, which I liked, and I tried to get IH8U, but it was already taken.

There was a great story a while back (can't remember the Web site -- maybe the Smoking Gun) about states restricting vanity plate profanity, etc. It talked about one guy in Florida who didn't have a vanity plate, but was assigned this:
A55 RGY
When you consider the fact that Florida has a giant orange in the middle of the plate, it reads just like "ass orgy."
