I surprised myself. I didn't vote for any of the originals. But there aren't many more sequels I'd vote for above its original. Except for the newer Star Wars trilogy (3 is the clear winner). And Spider-Man 2. And Batman Begins. Ah well, I guess there's a few.

Interesting enough, I think the middle movie in all 3 series is the best.

I wouldn't consider Batman begins to be a sequel.
That'd be like saying this:
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7233/batmanburrton2ro.png (http://imageshack.us)
is a sequel to this:

I guess that's fair. And to be honest, I was least confident of that one in my list from a quality standpoint too.

Bloodsport 1 was the best out of Bloodsport 1, Bloodsport 2, and Bloodsport 3.

Totally disagree w/ both of you. All three movies were good, but they were different from each other in fundamental ways that make them difficult to compare. Evil Dead was the best horror film of the series, Army of Darkness may have been the funniest, Evil Dead II the most original.

FWIW, I like the middle movie in each of the three choices from OP.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really prefer Star Wars to ESB. I mean, Yoda's a great character, the walker scene was awesome, and "I'm your father" is a classic movie moment, but what bugs me about ESB is that it's not a complete movie. I guess some people will like the complete lack of any conflict resolution, but I find I can't really appreciate ESB without following it up with RotJ.

I absolutely feel the same way. The first film was a fantasy story. The other two were too much just big hollywood epic ancient war movies with elves.

The first has to set the whole storyline up, the last has to tie it all together, but the middle is all "meat", they can just do whatever they want...so it usually turns out good.

The disparity between the first and the other two was so great that I refuse to even consider it a trilogy.

BTW, I believe its matrices

No, I thought the trilogy peaked with Fellowship then gradually devolved into typical action movie BS.

I voted for Fellowship too. The other two both had some sections that just dragged the movie to a halt. For instance, the multiple goodbyes/endings in RotK are interminable.

Exactly. I mean, the battles are cool and all, but Fellowship just had something special about it - it really brought the whole thing to life. The last 2 seemed much more standard Hollywood fare. They seemed much less inspired and less like a labor of a love, a feeling I got from the 1st one.
