View Full Version : 15/30 3 betting AJ preflop from SB...How's my line?

Mostly boring and standard but I want to check up on my turn decision.

Opponent is 35/16/2.2/40 over 1k hands and has a fairly wide opening range. I think there's zero change of him folding a Q on the turn but may fold a smaller pp.

Totally boring and standard?

I dunno, looks failry standard although I could argue playing this differently - as in not 3-betting PF.

Curious what others have to say.

Against this guy I felt very comfortable 3 betting AJ 5 handed.

I think betting the river is bad because I fold anything I beat get raised by anything I don't, and only get value when another A high folds.

I doubt very much that you are beat. Some agg opp will bluff raise you on the end though as well as pay off with jack high.

No, I will usually 3-bet AJo on the BB as well. I am not saying it is a wrong play, just that you should always keep in mind the other possibilities.

I think a check/call river is ok. I think you are looking at a mid PP or busted draw here many times.

Seems fine to me. I'd play it the same way. Hopefully that Queen has countefited his smaller PP or something...

I doubt he is folding a small pocket pair on the turn. If he was going to fold the pocket pair then he would have done so on the flop. So, he's either 1) drawing 2) ahead of you 3) putting on a move. I check-call in this spot and check-call most rivers.

Interesting option I hadn't really considered. This guy was probably capable of laying down the ace to a c/r here and I don't think he'll 3 bet without a king. I like it.

Yeah, I'm definitely open to considering this line.
