Anyone care to wager a guess as to how much one should expect lose per hand from the small and big blinds?

I started to ponder this after getting PokerTracker to keep track of my stats.

I'll give you a response.

I have no idea. Theoretical expectation ain't my thing.

Hopefully one of the smart guys will stumble across this and give you a slightly better answer. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

In a 2/4-game w/ a 1/2-blind-structure - in 100 hands you will lose 60 in SB and 90 in BB.

See why ? I'll leave it to others to elaborate.

Hey Homer, this is kind of a silly question because it depends so highly on what kind of game you play in. If you are in a game where it's often raised and reraised to you will be losing just about the blinds every round. If you play in loose, passive games and are getting a lot of free flops, then you will be doing much better. So this number is going to vary based on what type of game you play in most of the time. 2 significant winners could have very differing win rates in the blinds, if they play in different types of games- I don't think there is any standard amount.

Sklansky had a thread on this in the General Theory forum last year.

I probably don't have enough hands to make an informed decision. With 150 hands in the BB and 150 in SB I am showing a positive amount in each category. I am losing in button, c/o and UTG1 & 2. Don't know if this will help you or not.

i would estimate 50k hands a minimum sample.

hi holm,
well it's got to be negative; i'd say 25% negative; if the blind were a dollar i'd say 25 cents; a 25 cent loss; but i don't know though homer, could be much more. let us know.

Oh dear me.

Not another of those self-righetous "see why?" with no explanation posts.

You guys who do this really enjoy trying to feel superior don't you?

His track record speaks for himself. And no I don't see why.

SoBe, I think BBKing was just poking fun at the way Sklansky would answer the question (at least I hope that's what it was).

I don't see why either. perhaps that is the true reason for my post.

And what is his track record?

Pokerroom's EV stats (https://www.pokerroom.com/evstats/totalStatsPositions.php?players=10) shows the following average:

SB: -.113 BB
BB: -.171 BB

UTG is -.01. The button is +.06, everything else is between those, as you'd expect.
