I was thinking the same thing. Did you play it like this just for trifecta value? Because you could've really done better here, I think.

I agree. Probably could have gotten caps on both the flop and turn and gotten a c/r in on the river, with a possible cap there as well.

Lead both the flop and turn, 3 betting in each case when he raises. He may well have capped both times, on the turn almost certainly. If he doesn't cap the turn lead the river again, if he does then go far a c/r.

Of course this is easy to say after the fact and seeing opps hand.

I would still lead the flop though, although I might not 3 bet it in actuality. I would definitely lead, and 3 bet, the turn. That looks like the K hit you and you have either AK or possibly KJ/KQ - he would either have capped you or just called the 3 bet setting you up for a raise on the river, which would have backfired on him.

With all that said a trifecta is always nice to pull off and they do tend to be rare events. There's a certain satisfaction in pulling off a trifecta (especially the first one - it's almost like your first royal)

i never said this was the optimal play for the hand.... i never even tried getting a trifecta in 300k+ hands of poker i've played.

anyway this guy was pretty passive; i don't think he would've raised me relentlessly after i cap the flop and 3bets go in on the turn. so i don't think i lost all that much value.

You missed about 290840325219807893214 bets.

Nice trifecta, though. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
