View Full Version : Should I have played this hand differently?

I have a tight image at the table, I have played probably 3 hands so far. Button knows this and tries for a blind steal. I know my hand is better.

It looks fine to me.

I wouldn't be happy when Button raised the river, but I'd call, expecting to lose to A5/55 or some hand like 99/A9/AK that he trapped me with.

He showed A5 offsuit. I said "nice hand", he told me he didnt think I had an Ace /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I probably wouldn't have had a very reasonable guess as to whether you had an ace or not (hand reading during blind-steal situations is difficult for me), but I would have played the hand the same way Button did, I'm pretty sure.

But I don't think you did anything wrong. Button had 7 outs and caught on the river. And I think a 2/4 unknown will be raising something like A8 or 77 or K /images/graemlins/heart.gif 3 /images/graemlins/heart.gif on the river often enough to make it worth calling that raise.
