View Full Version : SNG Tournies 20+2..bankroll REQ, Hourly Rate AVG, New

08-13-2005, 03:24 AM
Hello, I am new to the 2+2 forums, I am just starting to play poker seriously, Have been playing for a year so far, home games and online, but never kept track of online or used a bankroll, I am up around 13,000 in the past 6 months playing live .5/1, and 1/2 nl also playing some online poker by bonus whoring. i am going to start 4 tabling 20+2 tournaments and keeping track. First, should i use poker tracker, or whats that SNG tracker everyone is using and how can i get it. I am trying to become a professional poker player when im 21 years old and want to prove to my parents I can make alot of money steadily, and show the graphs and analysis. Any help would be so appreciated, BTW is 1600 enough in my poker account to play 4 tables of 20+2 SNG on partypoker. Can anyone show me their stats, Also when you play tournaments, do you put notes on people and pay attention to every hand or just play statistically by folding everything then at the bubble playing the odds. Please any info would be greatly appreciated and I will start replying to posts and posting in the forum alot as everyone here is very informed in the poker world I can see. I've never seen many people so seroius and I love that. Also, I am trying to do stock market, opening up restaurants and clothing stores, and play poker as a living, Thoughts about this, I am going to college soon and majoring in business. I come from a wealthy family and they dont want me to do this, but instead become lawyer/doctor, but i find this life monotonous.

"or whats that SNG tracker everyone is using and how can i get it."

SNG tracker is best. I can't remember the link, but search for posts by "hood" here or on the software forum.

"BTW is 1600 enough in my poker account to play 4 tables of 20+2 SNG on partypoker."

1600 is plenty.

For good info search for a post by "shadow" (I think. The post I'm thinking of has plenty of good sng links).

Also seach for things like "folding equity" "bubble strategy" "gap concept" etc, and browse posts made by the most respected members of the forum.

Well, I only 18 right now, and im trying ot make some money. I want to play at the casinos, play the stock market, and open up businesses. BTW What is ROI everyone is saying like ROI %, i know IMO is in the money, Can someone tell me what all the terms are

IMO = in my opinion.

In the money = ITM

ROI = return on investment, which is profit/turnover.

Hey thanks alot bones, Ya i know the gap concept and all those things, I will search those though Thanks alot. Also, is anyone here regularly playing the 200 + 15, and are those enough to make a steady living

i play the 33s and my roommate plays the 55s and depending on your standards you could make a living playing these so I can only assume its that much better at the 215. Provided you can take the much bigger swings.

Curtains and Zeejustin claim to make $20k+ / month at the 215's. Though $300 / hour doesn't seem to be enough to motivate those guys to play them every day.

well....your enthusiasm is sure refreshing - gotta give you that!

excersise #1: patience

open your eyes, ears, and mind. there is a virtual smorgusboard of information here on this forums. it isn't necessary that you consume it all tonight /images/graemlins/wink.gif

kick your shoes off, find a comfortable chair. take your time to read through the FAQ (abbreviations, posting tips, etc.). practice playing with the forum's search function.

also visit other forums on the site. you'll find there are some forums better suited for your questions than others (beginners & internet gambling are often good places to get help on basic questions. there are no dumb questions in the beginners forum. you'll find that within forums for certain areas of discipline, this won't always be the case).

finally, if STTs are where you plan to play, i suggest you take some time reading posts on this - and the past 4 or 5 pages. in no time, you'll have a feel for what the expections are of posters and responders alike.

welcome and good luck to you.

sounds familiar..

anyways, get a fake id. learn to play live. learn to play cash games. learn to beat the 6 max games. learn to play heads up. i HIGHLY recommend doing all of this before learning sngs, if you truly wish to be a great POKER player.. see, there is a difference.

i started playing at a live 3-6 limit and 1-2 NL game about a year and a half before playing online. by that time i had moved up to play 2-5 NL and live tournaments. i was still 17. all of that play.. which was pretty much daily.. really helped my sng game overall.

you talk as though you want to be a COMPLETE player. to do this.. you must take my advice to heart. as for the businesses.. get yerself a bit of a roll first.. then start worrying about that. i wouldnt bother looking too much more into it until you have around 30k that u can spend on it. not 30k total, but 30k you can invest.

if you are trying to make more money than any of yer friends, then yes, playing sngs well will get you there. you are on the right track posting here.. my first posts i sounded like a complete ass tard, but i stuck around and it payed off big time (not to say i dont now.. but meh.)

as for yer 215 question? you can make nearly 6 figs a year in RAKEBACK if you do it right. that should clear up yer question. lots of players 8 table as well, and a few even go as crazy as 12+.

keep playing, keep posting, keep an open mind. this site is an EXCELLENT source of information on sng poker. use it well. holla

IMO the $215s aren't as difficult as people make out...

Great response Raptor. Couldn't have said it better. I like that the kid is thinking of investing his money but ya gotta get that time and experience in at the tables both live and here.

Megabet,

I tend to agree with you. People make it sound like its the holy grail of poker (and yes I have had my time at the 215's). I think some posters here make it intimidating for those that eventually want to get to that point

I've played about 500 with a 52% ITM, better stats than at any other level. I guess my game suits playing against better players. Less bad beats, more logical play...although you do get the occasional maniac. I don't play the 215s all the time, but when i do I bring my A game.

Yeah, sounds funny right. What I meant was I don't 8-table the 215s like I do the 55s. I play 2 at a time max. That's what I refer to as my A game - actually thinking and reading my opponents well rather than auto-plays.
