I have another post live at this time, but i figured having two separate posts was better than two hands in one post. As you can see by the subject line, i feel like i'm making a lot of mistakes on the river. I'm having a hard time deciding between when it's correct to value bet and when i need to check/call. Comments on all streets appreciated, of course.

Live 4/8.

Villain is a pretty typical player for this table. Seems reasonable, kinda loose preflop, hasn't really done anything to attract my attention.

Hero is SB with Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif J /images/graemlins/club.gif.

EP Donk calls, Villain calls, 2 other limpers call, Hero completes, BB checks.

A note about Villain's hand: when he picked it up to look at it, he somehow managed to show his bottom card, and i saw that he had a black ace.

Flop (6 SB): J 5 x rainbow

Hero bets, BB folds, Donk calls, Villain calls, everyone else folds.

Turn (4.5 BB): 5 rainbow

Hero bets, Donk calls, Villain calls.

River (8.5 BB): T

Hero...?

Why don't you want to bet?

Because i suck at the river!

Also, i'm probably being results-oriented.

What do i do if i'm raised by the donk? By the guy with the A?

Bet/Call (Fold if it's more than 1BB back to you).

You bet the flop and lead the turn. Why would you think that this river card now puts you behind in the hand?

Bet the river. No one has shown any aggression to indicate that your hand is beat. Fold to a raise.

I think he's worried what these people are calling him with.

Easy bet. You could checkraise the flop in this spot.

I was wondering if anyone would comment on that. I thought it was somewhat likely that someone would bet, but the flop was pretty raggedy, and no one had shown agression, so i just bet out.

This decision is pretty close, right?

A couple people have asked about my hesitation to bet. I've been check-raised a lot lately, so i'm a little gunshy. I don't know if i'm seeing monsters or not, but i was afraid of someone having a 5. But i'm still not confident about folding a decent-sized pot on the river for 1 bet, so i paid to see Villain's hand.

Also, i remain confused about what to do about Donk? Should i be value betting more or less with him in the pot than in a HU situation?

Villain shows A5. Donk mucks.

On this raggedy board and smallish pot, I'd rather bet out.

Even though the pot is quite big, is it correct to call down in this situation. I just dont see many player of villains description raising here without a hand that can always beat heros.
