So losing with the worst hand is supposed to put you on tilt these days?

He is just pointing out how much it sucks to run into AA 3x in a row while holding hands that made top pair on the flop. I dont think its supposed to be a bad beat post....

Right, not a bad beat post.

it's amazing i ran into AA 3 times in a row.

i didn't get angry. but, i was annoyed enough i had to get away from the table for a few minutes.

what are the odds you'll run into AA 3 times in a row when you have a good hand? assuming i don't hold an ace one of 5 opponents will have AA:

5 * 4/50 * 3/49 = 2.45% of the time

The proability of me holding a top 15% hand each time and an opponent having AA is:

.15 * .025 = .00367 = .367% of the time

The probability of this happening 3 times in a row:

.00367 ^ 3 = .000000049 = .0000049%

THE ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING ARE 1 : 20230276 !

You can't let this sort of thing bother you.

thanks,

i know it shouldn't bother me. bad beats don't bother me much at all. this was bizzarre enough that i had to take a few minutes to regroup rather than play with the slightest bit of tilt.

with experience i hope i will learn to be indifferent to the outcome of any hand... even a 2 million to 1 occurance.

btw, did i play any of those hands poorly?

Some of your math is incorrect, and you also used some faulty logic. You are calculating the probability of this occuring if you only played EXACTLY 3 hands. So your probability is WAY off...

If this puts you on tilt you must have been running hot as [censored] before these 3 hands.

Here's a hand where I had a ridiculous suckout to make you feel better I guess.

The past 3 times I've had AA, they've been cracked for sizeable pots. I'd rather be in your position.

I don't get the stop 'n go in hand 3, but there could be a perfectly valid reason for approaching ti this way.
