We've all heard the crazy bets of Ted Forrest, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, etc...these guys have some gamble in them.

I don't see this in a few players. Somehow Chris Ferguson doesn't strike me as a "gambler" (only plays big buyin tournies I think) and after hearing some of the Final Table commentary Hellmuth doesn't strike me as a "gambler".

Any others?

These guys are gamblers, but they always get in with an edge.

I can't see Fossilman gambling in the sense of casino games or prop bets. He strikes me as the kind of guy who sees that kind of stuff and says "Meh, this is kinda stupid. I can spend my time better."

I wouldn't classify Chan as a "gambler" in your sense, but the only method I used to determine this was Eyeballing It, so I could be wrong.

Dan Harrington does not strike me as someone who likes to gamble it up.

I think Phil Hellmuth has some gamble in him. I was listening to some WSOP final table commentary awhile ago, and I rememeber Phil making a bet with Eric Lindgren for $2000, that an 11-1 shot whould hit on the next card, even tho, he was getting 5-1 on his money. Do know if they were serious but I think Phil has some gamble.

Yeah I remember that, Wasn't he betting that some 2 outer would hit on the river? ANyway, im pretty sure he was serious and agree he probably has some gamble.

A two outer on the river is a 23-1 shot if you know six cards. If you know eight cards, its a 22-1 shot.

However, 11-1 are the approx odds for a gutshot.

Not when it has to do with non-poker related gambling... these guys go crazy with prop bets, side bets, golfing, ect.

I think any poker player, including rock stable types like like Harrington and Fossilman, is a gambler.

Playing any game with a significant luck component is gambling, IMO. And tournament poker has more of a luck factor than most any other form of poker.

Probability might say you have an edge, it is still gambling. Waiting for probability to play 'fair' has crushed many a player.

It was a gutshot.

Hey bozo,

The guy means which pros like to gamble on other things like sports, craps, BJ, etc. He didn't ask bring up the "why poker isn't gambling" debate.

Hey, I did give the house almost 3 dollars worth of edge playing craps during BARGE.

But mostly you're right. I don't like to gamble on things unless I'm very confident I have the edge. So, I don't make prop bets nor they like.
