Table was loose. Villian was raising to $2 preflop almost every hand. I'd normally never play J4s, but I really wanted to get into some hands with this fish.

I couldn't really put him on a hand, since he raised preflop almost every time... but I was thinking that he did have 2 over cards or a small pocket pair.

his flop bet was way over-the-top, so I was guessing that he was trying to protect against me hitting a flush, so I donk flat called hoping for a spade-- which i got.

he took like 25 seconds thinking about the turn call.

so how badly did I play this?

Raise more on the turn and bet more on the river if you want to execute this bluff more often at a higher %. You got lucky a 4th spade hit and he did not have one. This type of play only works if your opponent actually cares what you may or may not have - maniacs tend to disregard that information.
