I just read this story on Yahoo where at two hospitals in North Carolina they washed surgical instruments with hydraulic fluid instead of soap. The story of how the fluid ended up in the soap dispensers is plausible. But I don't understand how anyone could not know something was wrong when washing the surgical instruments. crazy stuff.

Could a little hydraulic fluid pumping through your veins really be that bad for you?

Surgical instruments are really not "washed in soap". They have to be autoclaved for 24 to 48 hours. (the autoclave is some sort of oven)
