Well I've been setting up and organizing tournaments for a while now with friends... and I discovered that this is the best setup...
40 25's = 1000
20 100's = 2000
I have a 1300 chip set... 500-25's 500-100's 200-500's and 100-1000's so I can let people start with a lot of chips, 60 total to be exact.
My Blind Structure:
25 / 50 20min
50 / 100 20min
75 / 150 20min
100 / 200 15min
150 / 300 15min 1 hour 30 min Color Up 25's
200 / 400 15min
300 / 600 15min 2 hours
400 / 800 15min
500 / 1000 15min 2 hours 30 min Color Up 100's
1000 / 2000 15min
1500 / 3000 15min

So tell me what you think and why. I want a professional opinion. I think the system works great and allows all types of players to have a comfortable game. Agressive players have a lot of chips, conservative players have a lot of time.

I'm no professional, but I think the structure seems a bit fast, especially live. The jump from 500/1000 to 1000/2000 is pretty brutal, and should turn things into a push fest. I actually like having equal timed levels throughout, but making the blinds slower late.

Might want to consider addint 250/500, and 750/1500 levels, and maybe make all levels 20 minutes. Just my preferences though. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think it's terrible. After 20 minutes your almost into all-in or fold pre-flop mode (if you're playing correctly anyway). I'd add a 10-20 and 40-80 level. I'm not a professional, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

there is some program you can download to help you manage a tournament.

Google (http://www.google.com) to find it.

[/ QUOTE ] Starting 3000 in chips, and your saying that after 20 min 100 big blind is all in or fold???? 100 is only 3 percent of your chips assuming you barely play the 25/50 blinds And who says that going all in or folding pre flop is the correct way to play anyways... Theres never a definite correct way to play.

Sorry, misread the post. I thought you started with 1300 chips.

He was definitely exaggerating here -- not sure if it was just hyperbole or what.

But regardless, this is a VERY fast structure. In live play, 15 minutes will get you like . . . 1.5 orbits, MAYBE? Sometimes 1 orbit, sometimes less. It will turn into a push/fold-fest much sooner than you (or people participating in the tournament) will like.

I would add a couple levels in around the middle, and instead of speeding up the levels near the end, would slow them to 30 minute intervals (possibly 25).

I thought it was 1300 chips too. With 3000, structure isn't terrible (I played much worse ones in vegas). Maybe make all levels 20-30 minutes and add a few levels late, and you'd have yourself a nice tourney. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
