Vegas: who really has the loosest slots?

going to vegas this weekend but I am not going to have much time to play poker and going with people who only play house games, so I hope to just get trashed and play some slots. the klondike and binions both seemed pretty loose to me, klondike advertising 97% payouts. Is there a better spot to go or should I just stick with the 'dike?

Video poker has a higher EV than slots. You just need to learn the basic strategy. There have been a couple of threads about this recently, one in the Book forum if I 'member.

Video poker machines also vary, but you can tell the payout by reading the chart on the front. Two slots right next to each other might look the same but payout differently.

That said, as a general rule the best VP machines and the best slots are going to be where the locals play. On the Strip is worst, downtown is next worst. The best places are off-strip places like Orleans, Sam's Town, any of the Stations (Boulder Station, etc.)

These are also going to be the best and friendliest for amateurs playing craps, 21, etc. And if your group will be there for any length of time, get the membership cards from where ever you play. The points can add up to some free meals, etc, over a couple of days.

The loosest "slots" ain't slots at all, but they are video poker machines. All over vegas you can find video poker machines of various types that pay back slightly over 100% (with optimal strategy of course, if you don't play optimally you could be getting far less than that back). Oddly enough almost all the 100%+ payback machines are specially marked to make them stand out (but there are usually comparatively few of them in the casino, you have to hunt for them). I personally like to play full pay deuces wild, double-double, and jacks or better. However, you need to understand which paytables mean what, and have the strategy charts, in order to take full advantage of these games. There are plenty of good books available on this subject.

As for slots, I only play the crazy penny slots games when I am drinking and fooling around, so I can't really say which are which. Avoid penny slots if you are worried about percentages, because they are usually higher vig than other denominations. There are books on slots, but I will never play enough to actually bother reading these books. Playing in houses that advertise a certain payback might not necessarily mean every machine has the exact same payback tables. Also, certain progressive machines, if the jackpot gets high enough and you play max coins, might actually have a +EV, but figuring out which are which would probably require more books.
