Dumb question about showdown etiquette.

Let's say I'm using only one card of mine to make my hand at the showdown. When it gets to me, do I have to turn them both over, or can I just so the one that makes my hand?

What about in kicker situations, where, say, I've got K9s and make trip 9s. If I don't turn over the king, do I not get to use it as a kicker if it turns out a later player has the case 9?

You must turn over both cards in all situations in a showdown.

Correction (in case MJ's post was misconstrued): You must turn over ALL cards to get the pot, not just the cards that make your 5-card poker hand (unless you're the only player with a hand). In omaha, you must show all four of your hole cards, even though only two will be used to make your hand.

Of course, if your friends haven't played in a public cardroom, they may not go for it. I'm just telling you the standard rule in poker rooms everywhere.
