View Full Version : dumb borgata question

I was curious about the Borgata Black Label card. Because that's what gets you free parking, right?

I know you need 1000 comp dollars in 12 months to get the Black label card.

So, suppose I play 6/12 and/or 10/20. That's... $1/hr? So 1000 hours in 12 months. Or ~83 hours per month. So if I go two weekends a month, I'd need to play ~41 hours each weekend...??

So um, is it not really feasible to get a Black label card through poker at 10/20 and below?

Let me know if any of my numbers or assumptions are off.

20hrs a week, can be done....not easily though if you play every other weekend

You're worried about free parking?

It's feasible if you play there frequently...two weekends a month makes it difficult though. You can get one at higher limits, more frequent play or pit degeneracy (believe me, you'd rather pay for parking and wait in line than do that).

haha yeah I kinda thought that to myself too after writing all that out. But, I just got used to it at the Detroit casinos while in school at Michigan. Paying for parking really threw me off when i first went to AC. It's more of a pet peeve than a concern for the money.

Hahaha. I was thinking the same thing. I figured if you're successful at those limits you could probably afford the $5 hit.

can you check online to see how many comp dollars you've earned/used.

does the fact that my rooms are free sun-thurs (and I think the weekend now too) add points or redeemed free rooms?

thanks, I need a black card to get girls panties wet.

Not sure about the second question, but you can check your comp dollars earned on Borgata's website. Go to the main site, click on the "Play" tab, then click to sign up for "My Borgata, Your Rewards"...fill in form (takes 2 mins). Then you can see what you've earned.

Black Label card is much more important for cutting in line at check-in and at restaurants than it is for free parking (although it gets you that too). Andd it gets you in to the exclusive and amazing Amphora lounge, where lots of really old people sit and drink liquor straight. Sometimes you can bend the 1000 comp points rule a little by befriending a floor person in the poker room. That's what I did. Then when I got around 850 or 900 points he just did me the favor of upgrading my card right then. But in general, the black card is slightly overrated, and I wouldn't worry too much about getting one.

Is it possible to call them claiming to be a premium player from another AC casino, and see if they will give you matching status? I know that for a while, the Trop was actively trying to poach Black Label customers.

The Borgata was giving matching status when they first opened. But I am not sure if they still do or not, since they are doing a good job attracting customers without having to do that.

If you showed them another premium card, they would most probably match it without a problem.

Take that black card to another casino and i hear they'll give you 50 bucks in chips or something along those lines. i'll find out the exact number tomrorow and post it.

I would say its almost impossible to get a black card from purely playing poker. The comps for poker play are a joke.

the easiest casino comp program in AC is probably Total Rewards at Harrah's and Showboat. even base members get unlimited free parking at both casinos, and their first premium tier (Harrah's Platinum) requires the least amount of coin-in of all the VIP programs in the city. you can try playing $30K of 9/6 JoB video poker (house rake about $150) and then see if they'll bump you to Borgata black. at worst you'll have a backup for ridiculously cheap and/or free rooms all year round right next door to the Borg and the Taj.

if Harrah's manages their WSOP investment wisely, expect more poker action to develop at their AC properties as well, especially at the new Showboat/HOB room.

If it makes you feel better, there is a rule in AC that if you only have to pay for parking at one casino a day--e.g. you can pay for parking at the Tropicana, then just show them your receipt at the Borgata if you wish to change venues.

Yeah but this only displays your current balance. If you've spent comp dollars (on food, rooms, etc) that doesnt show up. Is it your current balance or total earned comps that are important for getting the black card? If it's the latter (as I suspect), is there a way to find that number?

The last time I asked the rewards desk for how much I had accumulated, the first question the attendant asked me is do you play poker? I said yes, and then they said go talk with the poker room. I had previously been able to get the information without much fuss.

I had once asked the poker room, and they had told me they could estimate it, but it wouldn't be exact.

Comps at the Borgata are $1/hour at 6/12 and below and $2/hour at 10/20 and above, so a middle limit player gets "BLAck" AT 450 TO 500 hours.

Free parking for a regular saves $1,000 a year, a nice raise for a middle limit player. The best buffet in AC becomes your cafeteria because all meals there are only $10 in comp with the Black card and you get a much shorter line there and at the noodle bar and elsewhere.
