View Full Version : What Could I Have Done Differently?

One table tournament, 5 players, $1000 chips to start, first hand (blinds at $10/$20). I'm in the BB with AA (suit plays no part in this hand). UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $100, Button Folds, SB re-raises to $200, I re-raise to $400, UTG+1 and SB call. Flop comes 2,3,8. SB bets $200, I raise $400, UTG+1 goes all-in, SB and I call. SB has QQ, UTG+1 has KK, and wins it with trips on the turn.

Was I just destined to lose, or should I have "waited for a better hand?"

I'm definitely all in when it gets to me pre-flop, but you're still probably screwed. That's poker.

BigT, I'm not sure what you're saying.

What better hand would you be waiting for?

Unfortunately, DDH, that was my point. I'm leading pre-flop and on the flop. I don't think there was much I could do. One of us was going to clear out the other two. Just wanted to get other people's opinions.

You can't eliminate probability from poker. You were way ahead when all the money went in. Learn to be happy when you make the correct play and forget about the results.

You had an opportunity to triple up nearly 80% of the time. If you are asking this question you are missing extremely fundamental poker knowledge. Therefore you should read the forum first, understand things a bit better, and then ask question that haven't been answered 100 times.

I would've pushed my whole stack in when it was raised and re-raised in front of me. And then I would've eaten it when my aces got cracked by the kings. Tiny chance QQ might have folded (depended on how good his reads were).

In short, there's not much to do differently. You got the money in as a huge favorite, and lost. That's poker.

You could have avoided posting about it.

I'm sorry that some of you are so annoyed at my posting. The reason I asked the question is because I'm always looking for the best play, and some people have advice/moves that are different than mine. In the future, instead of wasting your time on posts that aren't up to your standards, why not just bypass them and move on to the next? And thank you to those who have validated my move. I appreciate it.
