I'll give you two hints:

1. It starts with an "M"
2. It ends with "adden 06"

first person to guess correctly wins.

Madden is so lame, its always the same [censored] every year with minor improvments and updated rosters. Football games suck ass too.

Yes, alternatives are good. I haven't bought Madden since '03, but I'll have to now. So I suppose the strategy worked.

OP, can you explain why it's not worth it? Would the story be different for someone who hasn't played the series in 3 years?

It's Madden '05 repackaged with "QB Vision" (basically a cone of hiliting that shows what receiver you're looking at. Your accuracy is hosed if you don't throw to a receiver in this cone).

My main gripe is basically that. EA did nothing to make a great game because they didn't have to. Turn off the "QB Vision" though, and you're left with a year old game with updated rosters.

The QB Vision thing is hard but it does make the game more realistic. You actually notice a difference between Manning/Brady/McNabb and the J.P. Losman's of the world.

Hopefully(crosses fingers) they just winged this years version since the new consoles will all be out when Madden 07 hits stores next year.

Well, it's surely a personal preference. I'm really enjoying it, a blend of sports and rpg that I've craved for a while now.

Someones mad because he can't run 10 yards backwards, do a 180 off his back foot and throw perfectly with Michael Vick. This years version finally takes some skill, get used to it.

Um, QB vision completely revolutionizes the freaking game. What the hell did you want them to do?

I have played the game for less than 2 hours and these are HUGE improvements over last year:
Passing vision/cone
Ability to jump outs and slants (huge for online play since the flag was a huge cheap route)
Ability to slide blockers before the snap
Extra offensive audible abilities
Stops the cheap spread out the D-line and blitz to the outside

This is after playing the game very, very briefly. The gulf between good and bad players will become huge with the new Passing. Why in the world would you turn it off?

Now, what do you propose they should have changed?
