I'm a SnG player. But i also bonus whore. Unfortunately, the current 10x rake hands requirements from Party skins gives me little incentive to play ring games.
Any reason to open up a Pokerstars acct?

You can clear PS bonuses (when they have them, about once a quarter, IIRC), playing SnG's.

You can whore bonuses with SnGs, which you like to play...how is there not a reason?
Build up a few reloads over the next few months, then work them all off using SnGs and MTTs.

The bonus structure at Stars makes SNG's rakefree.

5 FPPs get you $1 in bonus, on average. (600 FPPs required to clear $120 reload bonus)
If you play a $10 + $1 SNG, you get 5 FPPs. 5 FPPs is worth $1, so the fee of $1 is paid for by the bonus.

Actually, it's better than rake-free, not only do entry fees for STTs/MTTs count essentially dollar for dollar towards the bonus, but you get the FPPs as well - granted, they aren't worth much, but more than nothing anyway.

Anyone care to explain how points are earned in ring games? I still have to complete a bonus from 4 months ago and need another 450 or so points. I play 2/4 normally. Is the size of the rake the determining factor?

not at 2/4, every raked hand counts.
pot must reach $15 at 1/2 though.
