(And I never thought I'd say that).

Anyway, I've gotten good responses here for other things related to my work, so I'm trying again. What I am doing is brainstorming for celebrities. I need to think of a famous, recognizable person who is strong, with an edge, someone cool (not cheesy) and smart (ditzy is bad) to host a new show I am casting.

Ideas that have worked so far are Hugh Laurie (the lead from House), Sting, Lance Armstrong, Jon Bon Jovi (but I think he's a bit cheesy, whatever), etc. You know, dudes who won't shy away from brutal honesty but aren't like Rob Zombie scary. A relatable figure. Doesn't have to be male, but people like Brooke Burke and Leeza Gibbons are total crap.

OK, now go!

These are great guys, keep 'em comin...

(Also, nobody that's TOO huge, being that it's unrealistic they would want to host a television documentary show, even if it's going to be on a major network -- i.e., guys like Jack Nicholson and Kevin Spacey are way too "big" for it).

Hugh Laurie sounds perfect to me.

Chris Rock. Matthew Perry. (Both too big?)

Any Daily Show cast member, past or present. (too silly?)

Michael Rapaport (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001650/) (not big enough? smart enough?)

Topher Grace. (Too big/not 'strong'?)

Norm MacDonald. (good, right?)

In order to really give reasonable answers, we need to know the budget.

Fair enough. It's big budget -- Survivor-ish. Jeff Probst would actually be decent, but he might be a little lame/soft for my taste. So it's not like we'll take some dude who does community theater in Duluth. But guys like Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland are probably a little too big, since they're in hit movies and/or have huge hit shows.

Someone in between is good -- a Josh Charles, a Henry Rollins (good call guys, we've already been down that road, etc.), you know, someone you can see hosting a major network reality show and not think "why the f*** is he hosting a reality show??"

I can't say much about the format; it really is nothing like Survivor or The Apprentice. It's more documentary-style and it's pretty "uplifting" in a "Field of Dreams" kinda way.
