I would say this opponent was more "good" than particularly "tight" or "loose". When do you decide he actually has it?

You both had 30bb; it looks like a cash game (i play 20+2). I'm out of my element here, but I'm impressed by your turn bet. I'd probably check/fold the turn....which I can't defend. This is a cool hand. Is it a 100+9 or 200?

Why are you impressed by the turn bet? I thought I was spewing chips?

I don't mind the preflop raise and I like the flop bet but I think this is entirely read dependant. If you haven't seen him get caught raising with air you might just want to let this go, he seems pretty interested in getting a lot of money into this pot. I would say you should be quite confident you are beat after getting re-raised on the turn.

I would probably 3-bet the flop and put the brakes on and let my hand go to any further action.

What 3 bet could there possibly be besides allin?

Betting 1/4th of the pot on the turn is pretty weak sauce.

Yea I know, the turn sucked. But he will bet 100% of the time if I check, and he might not raise me without a hand?

Yah right after I posted that I realized you aren't deep enough.

Fold to the flop re-raise and live to fight another day.

I just have so much trouble respecting that raise.

Yah I know, but like you said the only re-raise is all in. By now you should have some sort of read on the guy. If you think he is tryiing to play back at you then shove it down his throat. I just hate calling then betting out 1/4th of the pot on the turn which is the only bet you can make that isn't going to pot committ you.

I dunno, by this time you should have a feeling for the player. If you don't respect his raise then push on the flop. If you think he has something then fold, you have some chips and can live to fight another day. I mean versus a really LAG player this is an easy push and versus a really TAG this is an easy fold. You say the player is in between, then make up your mind and do something. Between choice A or putting more chips into the pot and B of folding then I would probably prefer B, however if you do fold your raises are going to get a lot less respect and you will need to adjust accordingly. Of course if you push and he has the J and calls you are probably taking 3rd.

When in doubt, just suck out.

Look at the stack sizes. I don't want to get my whole stack in the middle without a hand like 2 pair or better. But he realizes that too, which is why I hate folding on the flop. It's a cheap way to find out if I'm serious.

I'm impressed that you had the courage to make one. I'm probably not able to without confidence that he's lag. I agree that you are giving up a lot of chips yet without making a strong move.
