Bodog SNG transcribed by hand:

Blinds 10/20 (8 handed)
My stack: 940
CO stack: 1375

My hand: J /images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ /images/graemlins/heart.gif on the button

PREFLOP: 4 limps, I raise to 140, folded to MP who calls, CO calls

FLOP: 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (T 490) 3 players
MP checks, CO checks, I bet 250, MP folds, CO goes all in and has me covered.

550 for me to call and the pot is 990. If I lose I'm out. What's my play?

Hmmm...the only unmade hands that I tend to see check raised all-in are flush draws and straight draws. There is no flush draw here, and I doubt villain called PFR raise with the ultra low cards that have the OESD. So I'm pretty sure you're beat. Maybe by top pair, but some two-pair/set seems more likely given how sneaky he was about betting it. I fold.

In any case, I think you made a shaky move preflop. After 4-limpers I don't think raising accomplishes much. Sure you're in position, but raising with jacks will

1) get you involved in a multiway pot (which you like, IFF you can get in cheaply and play your JJ for set/overpair value which they usually miss)

2) get you involved in an aggressively contested HU pot, and you'll likely have to make a tough decision for all your chips with overcards on the board.

So I vote no raise. Definately go at it with fewer limpers or later in the game when the blinds are more substantial, but early and multiway, I don't like it.

So you flat call with Jacks on the button after a bunch of loose limpers? I can't agree with this but I'm generally a limit ring game player.

Does anyone else have a problem with the preflop raise?

Standard trouble with JJ hand. The flop continuation bet is standard, and it's an easy fold to the all-in.

Preflop: different styles. I usually limp with JJ in earlier levels (even in late position), but a raise is absolutely fine. We've had this argument before about JJ, but raising is okay.

You have to decide whether your hand is good here on the flop. T450 in the middle, you've got t800 behind. Push or check, and I think pushing is right.

I also don't like the raise preflop, but I may be wrong.
