Anybody have any suggestions on where I should look?

Also, is there a big difference in quality of RAM from different manufacturers? I figured I would just buy the cheapest I could find, but is this the best idea?

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes there is a difference between manufacturers and even product lines within the same manufacturer, but if you are not going to be overclocking your RAM (mostly done by gamers or geeks) then budget RAM will suit your needs just fine. You will not notice a difference except for benchmarks.

However, the quantity of the RAM will matter. If you are running WinXP I would suggest at least 512MB, if not 1GB of RAM. There is not much improvement when getting more than 1GB of RAM except in certain scenarios.

I would not buy the cheapest I could find. However Corsair (and other quality manufacturers) have valie series witch are very nice. Go for them.

This is what I got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145026 works very good for me.

Thanks for the advice, both of you.

I have a laptop, so I went with this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145482).

It should bump my powerbook up from 256 to 640 MB

I got a good deal from eBay, but of course YMMV.
